Abstract:Oscar Wilde's fairy tales are unique in selecting images and vehicles of the metaphors.Based on the selected nine Wilde's fairy tales, this paper probes into the vehicles and their functions, and analyses features of the fairy tales. It reveals that many contradictions exist in Oscar Wilde's fairy tales which doesn't perfectly implement his own aesthetic proposition—“art for art's sake”.
