Abstract:Motivated by the thought of value education, the author found that the current integration of value education in the specialized course was inadequate. In the teaching practice of the course of “Science and Technology English Interpretation” at University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the theory of “Problem-Oriented Learning” (PBL) is chosen to guide students to think about the practical problems and solutions elucidated in the original texts based on the fact that this course is characterized by interpreting texts on S&T knowledge and events. The results show that this method can promote students’ understanding and memory of S&T expressions and terminology in both Chinese and English, improve their S&T interpreting proficiency and their ability of solving problems, deepen their understanding of the progress triggered by practical problems in the history of S&T at home and abroad. Thus, their patriotism will be enhanced and international perspective will be cultivated.
