Abstract:This article studies the discourse strategy of the German media’s reports on the RCEP agreements from the database LexisNexis News during 2012-2021. Under theory of agonistic strategy, we analyzed the argumentation strategy with the discourse-historical methodology. It is found that German media usually represent conflicting relations by means of “conflictization”, constructing conflict subjects rather than a negative Chinese economic image by “dangerous/threatening” argumentation. The Gemeran medias used different topos on the different agonistic relations. This study helps to reshape our economic image and contribute to establish our diplomatic discourse system.
