| 委婉语是一种常见的语言现象，可分为规约委婉语和非规约委婉语。从语用学的角度对委婉语做出以下解读：对会话原则的违反是构成非规约委婉语的语用根据；委婉语具有五个语用功能，即避讳功能、避俗功能、礼貌功能、掩饰功能、自我保护功能；语境则对委婉语具有制约作用。对规约委婉语和非规约委婉语的翻译进行分类研究，提出相应的翻译策略。 |

| Euphemism is a common linguistic phenomenon which can be divided into two categories: stated and unstated euphemism. This paper interprets euphemism from the perspective of pragmatics: the violation of Cooperative Principle contributes to the generation of euphemism; euphemism has five pragmatic functions, namely, avoidance of taboo, avoidance of vulgarity, politeness, concealment and self defense; euphemism is constrained by context. The paper also induces translation strategies according to the classification of stated and unstated euphemism. |
