This paper explores the way of introducing the concept of efficiency in management into language teaching to maximize the teaching effect so much so that students, the end products following generous input of overwhelmingly large resources, will be able to use the language in real life. Basic ideas of efficiency in management and their impact upon language teaching are discussed in the paper. The authors demonstrate through a case study of the course Practical English Writing how such efficiency factors as objective identification, system building and communication may integrate with the teaching activities like curriculum design, paper marking and communication between students and teachers. The integration may improve the educational efficiency by optimizing the relation between input and output in the teaching process.
