This paper aims to explore an effective teaching method of the translation of English for Science and Technology(EST) for universities of science and technology. Given the diversity of EST texts and undergraduates’ prior knowledge, the author points out that EST translation practice should be started with common English for science and technology, and then be done from one technical field to another. Being familiar with basic translating techniques, students should also be guided to translate various EST texts under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory.
