From the theoretical research of “cross?cultural foreign language teaching”, the author analyzes the present situation of college German teaching in China. Combined with the status of the learner’s main characteristics in university, this paper discusses how to strengthen the cultivation of the cross?cultural competence. This article points out that in the new situation the “College German” should further expand the teaching view, strengthen teaching materials and improve the cross?cultural awareness of the language teachers. It also emphasizes that language is not a completed work, but a cultural behavior, which changes with the time development. It will be a long?term task to emphasize and cultivate the cross?cultural competence.
