The normality of external characteristics of university teachers’ international papers recorded by SCI during 2006－2009 will be counted by Web of Science Search with bibliometrics methods. Guided by the paper statistic rules of SCI papers, an empirical study is done on the negative effect of deficient external characteristics of papers on their recording and retrieval, thereby alerting scientific researchers to this problem. We expect to improve efficiency of paper recording and retrieval.
