The development of the language service industry and ESP translation market and the needs of global economic integration and informationalization have brought about translation professionalization. This paper discusses the basic concept of translation professionalization, its process and problems. Based on his investigation of ESP papers (English versions) published in the English academic journals in Shanghai, China, the author analyses the relevant translators’ quality and competence, taking some translated examples from the journals.
