Against the issues challenging the English major education in our universities in the 21st century, the study, using Ye Lan’s conceptual framework for Teachers’ Professional Development, and the relevant prescriptions in the Curriculum for university English majors designed by the Chinese Ministry of Education as references, investigates the present situation of the English major teachers’ professional development so as to better improve the English major teachers’ professional quality in Chinese universities and help to train better qualified English major talents.
