Strong online searching capability of standardized terminologies is indispensable for technical translation and translator training. Based on the investigation into English majors’ assignments, the paper finds that technical translators usually have difficulty in the recognition of a term, in the selection of synonymous terms as well as that of polysemous terms, and in the effective usage of online dictionaries. The paper then provides overall strategies to deal with term translation involving the problems above.
