As an international metropolis, Shanghai’s development is inseparable from the inter- nationalization of higher education. University of Shanghai for Science and Technology originated from Germany and America’s education in China and blended the elements of France, the Soviet Union and the UK in its subsequent development. It has gone through several historic stages of Tongji German Medical Engineering school, Sino?France National Institute of Technology, University of Shanghai, Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering, and also given rise to the Shanghai?Hamburg College and the Sino?British College. Thanks to its rich historical heritage, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology has carved a unique image in the field of international and engineering education, occupying a special position in China’s higher education. It is the different elements from different cultures that have the university to establish its 100 years’ history of international engineering education.
