This paper studies the generic structure and modality employment of non English majors’ PPT presentation for English classroom group activity. It has been discovered that in the English classroom situation, such PPT presentations for specific learning tasks follow particular stages of generic structure, and meanwhile the features of “genre complex” and individuation have been revealed. The paper summarizes seven kinds of modalities and the most frequently used major modality combinations that the students choose to employ in their PPT presentations. The differences in these aspects between students with different English proficiency are also discussed. This paper is of some significance in evaluating students’ multiliteracy, enhancing college English teaching, and putting multimodal discourse analysis theories into practice.
