Abstract:This paper is intended,from the perspective of feminist criticism,to analyze the feminist features displayed by the Woman of Bath,a literary image portrayed by Chaucer,in the three aspects of her stand,that is,her feminist concept of marriage,her striving for women’s social rights and her emphasis on women’s position in their families,then go further to explore the factors that lead the Woman of Bath to a feminist from the history and society of her time as well as her own character,and finally draw the conclusion that this literary image of a feminist is actually the product of Chaucer’s humanist thought.
