Abstract:Engineering colleges and universities take a large portion of our country's institutions of higher learning. However, in comparison with advanced countries, the number of high-level engineering students turned out by such colleges and universities is rather small, which directly affects the overall-level of our country's manufacturing industry. To deal with this situation, our country has actively promoted excellent engineering education. Focusing on the pilot colleges and universities for Excellent Engineering Education Program of Shanghai, this study, from nine perspectives, makes a comprehensive analysis of the status quo and problems of engineering education of Shanghai local colleges and universities since the implementation of Excellence Program, and finally comes up with counter-measures and suggestions for further development of excellent engineering education.
