Intertextuality is not only a way of text existence,but implicates a way of text under-standing.Based on relevant cognitive theories,the paper explores the cognitive mechanism,process and features of intertextuality understanding.It concludes that understanding of intertextual texts involves the mechanism of conceptual blending,conceptual optimization of intertextual sources and features of contextual convergence,semantic consensus and interactions between participants and texts.
