By conducting an empirical investigation to look into the quality of 138 BA degree theses of English majors,the present article focuses its discussion on the learners' language as well as their critical and creative thinking in academic writing and the important status of such writings in cultivating qualified university graduates.From practical point of view this article introduces the distinctive notions of basic requirements and higher requirements to specify the criteria for evaluating the quality of thesis writing,aiming to provide useful suggestions for administrators and teachers in supervising the academic writing,and tips for students in their academic writing.
