This essay is an analysis of Tim Winton's ecological thoughts embodied in Shallows.The research is done by using the theory of western ecocriticism.The critic would claim Winton's ecological thoughts are reflected from four aspects,namely,critiquing Christianity-anthropocentrism,critiquing the whaling industry in modern society,critiquing instrumental reason in social development and learning ecological wisdom from aboriginal culture.
