Cinderella is a worldwide common motif.There are a lot of stories which involves this motif.Otikubo Story and Yexian are Japanese and Chinese “Cinderella” respectively.The same motif in the two works has similarities and differences in culural and social background and content.This paper focuses on a comparison between the two works, and it concludes that not only a more comprehensive and profound understanding of these two works can be materialized, but also the similarities, differences as well as some specific underlying cultural features can be revealed.
