Ever since the 1990s, with the development and deepening of China's reform in college English education, a large number of college English textbooks have been written and published.Admittedly, among these are widely-adopted and influential textbooks.However, the quality of a college English textbook and its applicability to users are barely known, due to the unavailability of a systematic evaluation index system for college English textbooks.As a result, there's no quantitative standard for universities to follow when they choose their English textbooks and their selection of textbooks is easily affected by external factors.This paper analyzes the status quo of China's research in college English textbook evaluation field and the problems existing in evaluation factors such as evaluation objective, evaluation subject, evaluation standards, evaluation methods, and evaluation conclusions, and in attempts to suggest an approach to the construction of evaluation index system for China's college English text books.
