Translation is an effective communication medium between people of different cultures.Translation competence is one of the basic language skills,and it mainly consists of four elements:linguistic competence,professional knowledge and encyclopedic knowledge,thinking ability,and creative ability.The purpose of translation teaching is to improve students' translation competence.This paper analyzes the current situation of translation teaching in higher vocational colleges,and then within the framework of constructivism theory,it discusses how to further develop and improve English majors' translation competence in terms of teaching material,teachers and model of teaching.
