The Tourism English Course discussed in the paper is different from the conventional one,which aims at training qualified guide interpreters.Therefore,the paper launches a re-orientation research on the course based on ESP theory and the course case of USST.“Quasi guide interpreter” is a new term introduced in the paper,meaning sharing something in common with guide interpreter,yet not exactly the same.To bring up “quasi guide interpreters”,the course highlights cultural knowledge and the development of translation/ interpretation ability.The essence of the course,in another word,is to bridge the gap between EGP and the students' needs of professional skills in future career.
