Problems caused by pragmatism and instrumentalism in the present university education are analyzed in this paper.It is proposed to reform the existing education system in view of Confucianism and to take feasible measures for appropriate changes on campus.Besides,it reviews the idea of “liberal education” by Mei Yiqi and general education in the US and Europe to improve the modern university education.
