The present article compares ESP with ESL in an objective way and suggests that ESL should be transformed to ESP as soon as possible.ESP is based on students' needs and both its teaching materials and teachers should be further improved.The students of ESP with specific aims had better make a feasible self design to acquire cross-culture and interdisciplinary effects.The graduates of ESP may play several crucial roles in the system engineering process of translation projects.ESP will develop to become one of the cradles for cultivating our internationalized and innovative foreign language talents.
