Based on the European Commission's requirements for translation competences of EMT and the author's experiences in sci-tech translation,the paper discusses MTI teaching aims and translation competence training.The author suggests that the MTI curriculum contains the courses of document retrieval,medium-high-grade popular science,sci-tech text typology and translation ethics in order to improve the students' information mining competence,thematic competence and translation service provision competence.
