SIOP Model is a model for teaching various subjects in the primary and secondary schools in the United States and is used as an evaluation instrument for classroom observation as well.It includes thirty components grouped into eight main aspects.Applied widely in elementary and secondary schools in the U.S.A,SIOP Model has achieved satisfactory success.This research reveals its implications for bilingual teaching in China:bilingual teaching in China should be practice-oriented,theory-guided,classroom-focused and student-centered;both subject objectives and language objectives should be achieved;and an evaluation instrument for classroom observation with high reliability and validity should be developed.
