This article may serve as a sequel to the writer's three articles(Random Remarks on ESP/EST,EST as I See It,and A Glimpse of ESP),written respectively in recent years.The primary aim of the present paper is to discuss and explore how to employ the most effective teaching approach and learning method to obtain the best results of ESP studies.It lays much emphasis on such issues as Analysis of Learning Needs,Learning Skills,Learning Strategies,Program Planning,Course Content,the Compilation of Ideal Textbooks and Collection of Reference Materials.In the meanwhile,it draws together some of the key problems concerning the major roles of ESP teachers and students and puts them in a wider language teaching perspective.Anyhow,it is an attempt to work out appropriate solutions for the teaching and learning of ESP.
