The article clarifies the conceptual difference between EAP and EAW, academic ability and academic writing ability. It summarizes the study of English Academic Writing ability at home and abroad in recent years. It is proposed that non-English-major graduates' EAW ability should be developed by reading academic articles, learning interactively based on the theory of genre analysis, combining writing-skill training with major study, teaching in class with studying online.
