Chinese sociologists usually believe that in 1905 or in 1908, the course of sociology at the university was initiated by the American professor Arthur Monn in St John University. But this view is not true. In fact, the course of sociology was offered by the American pastor Arthur Mann in St John College in 1905. This is the first course of sociology in Chinese institutions of higher learning.
