Improving the teaching quality of graduate courses is a key task of building world-class universities in China.This paper,based on the authors'work experience in China and USA,analyzes the existing problems in current Chinese graduate course education,and deals with the merits of graduate course system of Northwestern University.The analysis is unfolded in three aspects:the course system design scheme,classroom teaching,and faculty-student interaction.This study also provides useful comments on the teaching reform of'full English graduate course consolidation project'and discusses future directions for teaching quality improvement in graduate education.
