As an essential element in Zhuangzi,philosophical images act as crucial vehicles of Zhuangzi's philosophical ideas.Based on the philosophical images of “TIAN”,“REN” and “XIN” from Zhuangzi this paper analyzes the mental processing in these highly frequent philosophical images.It is discovered that Thing-and-Part ICM,Action ICM and Control ICM respectively lie behind the three philosophical images in Zhuangzi.It suggests that in processing conceptual integration,the metonymic feature of philosophical images in Zhuangzi provides new information for meaning construction,which enhances our understanding of Zhuangzi philosophy.it is concluded that an investigation of philosophical images in Zhuangzi with both metonymy and conceptual integration is conducive to the cognitive mechanism of philosophical ideas of Zhuangzi.
