With the rapid development of shipbuilding and maritime industry,new codes and rules have been implemented.However,translations of some administrative organizations of ship industry are not proper in terms of lexical meaning and grammar.This paper takes the codes and rules of CCS and GB as the objective of study,by referring to the Codes or Rules of IMO,IACS and ISO and some other major organizations,and consulting the authoritative English dictionaries.It summarizes the differences among these words,including their binding effects,application scopes and the idiomatic usage in order to promote academic exchange and internationalization of the technical standards of ship industry.
