This paper,by means of the corpus-based approach,analyses the English Translation of the network catchphrase "Taolu".The study compares the meanings and usages of "Taolu",and finds that changes of its semantic meaning and grammatical usage are multiple:it develops a new negative meaning;it is not only a noun,but also a verb.In addition,its English translation appears to be problematic in that its collocations and semantic prosody are ignored.It is concluded that not only semantic meaning but also its collocation and semantic prosody should be taken into consideration in translation.
