As a cognitive phenomenon,metaphor is an important component of language and is widely used in our daily life.Language and politics are highly integrated,and metaphor is frequently used in political text and political discourse.Political text is an important channel to disseminate authentic information.By using metaphor in political text,statesmen can better convey political messages and express political stance.Therefore,the accurate translation of metaphor is of great importance.This paper,based on the authentic bilingual version(drafted and issued by Xinhua News Agency) of Report on the Work of the Government 2016,analyzes the Chinese and English version of the RWG and discusses strategies involved in the translation of metaphor so as to offer new perspective for the translation of metaphor in political texts.
