Herman C.E.Liu(1895-1938),one of the well-known patriotic educators in modern China,is also the first Chinese president of Shanghai University.The educational circles have begun to study the thoughts and activities of Herman C.E.Liu since 1938.Some explored Herman C.E.Liu' patriotic activities and eulogized his patriotism,some studied the topics in his educational thoughts and activities,others explored the relationship between him and Shanghai University.Their research achievements are fruitful and in-depth,but there is still room for further study.
