Abstract:The well-known verse "In Me the Tiger Sniffs the Rose" is from a representative postwar poem by Siegfried Sassoon, whose works are considered to be war-tinted,nostalgic or controversial. The poem has various interpretations and versions in China. The popular Chinese version on Baidu website is said to be translated by Yu Guangzhong,a famous literary figure in China, which is evidently proved to be a rumor spreading via internet.Based on a thorough study of the poem and comparative analyses between Chinese and English poems, this paper aims to embody some in-depth perceptions of obscure imagery in the lines and to present a more equivalent Chinese version.
