With news discourses on people's life from the China Press Award as the research material,the paper analyzes the cognitive process in reading the news discourse under the framework of cognitive linguistics.The study shows that image schema,metaphor,figure-ground and conceptual blending model are frequently well employed in these news discourses.By activating the recipients' cognitive mechanism,short and simple expressions in news discourse arouse the readers' assonance,thereby strengthening the news effects and effectively heightening the core values of socialism.
