Abstract:Langston Hughes,a prominent African-American poet,is hailed as the voice of black people and a major figure in Harlem Renaissance.During his life,Hughes created a large number of popular poems with universal praise.Through the analysis of natural images and their implications in Hughes' poetry,the paper aims at revealing the hidden emotions and themes.Hughes infused his emotions into natural images,by virtue of most of his poetry expressing the poet's indignation over racial discrimination and oppression against black people,and his deep sympathy towards black people.The long history and indomitable ethos of black people are also applauded in Hughes' poetry to inspire black people's sense of self-identity and persevering pursuit of equality and freedom.
