This paper is a final report of a survey,in which 1 359 English majors from 48 universities of the seven administrative regions of China were investigated by an online questionnaire on the platform of Wenjuanxing.The results of the survey show that the percentages of satisfaction with teaching(58.8%) and confidence in employment(47.6%) are higher,and the percentage of satisfaction with course program(44.1%) is also comparatively high.However,as a whole the percentage of “good” for communicative abilities is not so satisfactory,many of the subjects are confronted with the bottleneck problem of how to improve from the “average” level to the “good” level.It is also found that the English majors’ learning habits need further improvement,for instance,they need spend more English listening and reading original books in English.The number of innovative projects offered to the English majors and their initiative to join are not satisfying.The subjects from different types of university have different reasons why they are satisfied with teaching,the percentage of being satisfyed with courses curriculum is basically in positive proportion with the type hierarchy of university.Meanwhile,the investigation on the number of master and doctoral degree programs in Foreign Language and Literature(English in this paper) was also manually completed by visiting the official websites of Colleges of Foreign Languages of 415 universities in 31 provinces based on the Airuishen Chinese University Rank 2015(first 700).It is discovered that the regional distribution of master and doctoral degree programs remains umeven,the general tendency is that East China,North China and Central China are on the top respectively,while South China,Southwest China,Northeast China and Northwest China are on the gradual bottom of the statistic table.
