Abstract:Since 2007,the analysis of The Great Gatsby from the perspective of Ecocriticism has gradually become popular. However, most scholars focus on the main characters, ignoring the minor character — George Wilson. In fact, the character of George Wilson is representative and has multiple meanings. From an ecological point of view,he reflects the relationship between man and nature, man and society, and man and self in the “Jazz Era.”This paper analyzes Wilson's image from three aspects: natural ecology, social ecology and spiritual ecology, interpreting the relationship of the lower class in the “Jazz Era” with nature, society and human beings more comprehensively and profoundly.
