Abstract:Since 2018,the Chinese term "yinghe",originating from English word "hardcore",has been widely used on internet and become the buzzword of the year. This paper utilizes Google Books Corpus,iWeb and BCC to compare the meaning of the two English and Chinese words, and the results indicate non-equivalences in their basic meaning, language variations and technical terms. In view of these differences, this paper argues that translators should combine "translation method of looking for equivalent" and "current translation method" to achieve term standardization, cultivate keen awareness of diachronic language changes, and take into consideration the disparity of Chinese and Western cultural contexts. Moreover, translators should maintain Chinese cultural traits whilst respecting the traditions of other cultures and raise our own voice in the international arena so as to more effectively spread Chinese culture and build the national image through translation.
