Based on Chinese-English Parallel Corpus of Jade King and BNC Fiction,combining intra-lingual comparison with inter-lingual comparison,this paper makes a comprehensive investigation on normalization in the English version of Jade King.The comparison with BNC fictions reveals that Jade King shows a tendency of being more standard and normalized like hapaxes,nominalizations,passives,relative clauses and connectives; the comparison with the source text indicates that Jade King shows a tendency of normalization in dealing with over-used exclamation marks with the strategy of omission.Both intra-lingual and inter-lingual comparisons have shown that Jade King presents a feature of normalization,which is mainly caused by three needs:to decrease ideological and religious conflicts,to improve target readers' reading experience,and to achieve the goal of national institutions' translation.
