Abstract:The ultimate educational goal of moral education means necessary changes in philosophy, aim, method and content etc.in foreign language teaching and learning so as to meet the new requirements for morality cultivation. The paper is based on the case study of Unit 6 in Book I of The New Target College English:An Integrated Course, demonstrating how material adaptation can meet the requirements of morality cultivation in foreign language teaching and learning courses. The study also specifies the major methods and principles for adaptation:developing a pivot moral theme or idea around which all the learning activities cluster;integrating the theme, language skill and learning activities into an organic whole through theme-based content instruction;opting for learning content selectively to leave adequate room for both classroom instruction and autonomous learning.
