Abstract:This research explores learning needs observed by students, industry needs observed by graduates, and learning deficiencies observed by teachers in the framework of "Needs Analysis Model" proposed by Hutchinson & Waters.Accordingly, needs of English for Specific Purposes like aeronautical English course are analyzed with the methodology of triangulation.Closed questionnaire, structured interview, and observation are the measurement tools in the research upon subjects including undergraduates, graduates, and teachers.Data is obtained from this qualitative and quantitative research, and thus language learning tasks are designed, a task-based syllabus is formulated based upon the contents of aeronautical English and a targeted evaluation on student language production is conducted.In brief, this research addresses the key issues of "what to teach", "how to teach" and "how to evaluate".
