Abstract:Northrop Frye has been renowned in the academic circles for his archetypal criticism.Meanwhile, his Biblical criticism is also a kind of Biblical interpretation, or even a "Biblical hermeneutics".By analyzing the stages of language development, Frye finds out that the rhetoric in the Bible is Kerygma which is based on Metaphor. In fact, Metaphor is the unit of related word structure and its metaphorical meaning, Kerygma is the rhetoric in writing and interpretation of the Bible;Metaphor is the "Pre-structure" of interpretation, and Kerygma is the "Interpreting" activity of interpretation. The Way of the rhetorical interpretation from Metaphor to Kerygma, introduces interpretation of The Bible in the dual context of the literal meaning and the second social and cultural significance. Therefore, Frye's "Bible Hermeneutics" is actually a biblical cultural interpretation based on rhetoric and text.
