Abstract:Using the software VOSviewer as an analytical tool, this paper makes a bibliometric analysis of international studies on linguistic landscape from 2010 to 2019. The research data, 683 English papers, are retrieved from the core database of Web of Science. With analysis of co-occurrence of key words and clustering of literature co-citation, this paper reviews the development process, hot topics, discipline distribution and core literature in this area. Meanwhile, the future trends relating to the study of linguistic landscape are predicted, providing inspiration for further research in China. The research findings are as follows: the number of papers relating to linguistic landscape research has been steadily growing in the past decade; the research hotspots include multilingualism and multiculturalism, identity construction and cultural identity, globalization of English, and language policy and planning; linguistics and pedagogy constitute the core strength of linguistic landscape research, while other disciplines are urgently needed in construction of academic community. Three major trends or frontiers can be predicted in future research: the research topics will be broadened; the modalities of research objects will be diversified; the field and scope of linguistic landscape research will be extended.
