Despite the constant zest for grammar research in recent years, there seems to be a marginalized tendency for grammar teaching in English major’s curriculum, which urges to explore an efficient and practical teaching mode based on the grammatical theory. According to students’ knowledge of grammar level and their cognitive characteristics, it is necessary to establish a new mode for grammar teaching guided by The Prototype Theory, The Integration View, and The Embodied View of cognitive grammar, as well as the OBE (Outcome-Based Education) philosophy. The paper develops the CSE grammatical competence scale into specific teaching objectives, designs text-based contextual teaching materials and carries out activities to practice grammatical knowledge in reading and writing. The new teaching mode aims at effectively improving students’ grammatical competence.
