This paper reviews development and application of variant translation theory in the context of the new era. Through comparative analysis of Chinese news discourse and its English translation, this paper explores internationalization of news discourse under the guidance of variant translation theory and realization of the social function of international communication of Chinese culture. This paper finds that the translation of news discourses should pay attention to acceptability of international audiences and validity of discourse communication, reflect the internal and external differences and strong timeliness of news discourses, and construct a news discourses system conforming to international norms by means of adaptive translation strategies.
