Abstract:To investigate the effect of group guidance for mindfulness-based stress reduction on post-2000s generation’s mental health, we design a structured group guidance scheme for peers to practice mindfulness-based stress reduction .To be specific, implementing group guidance of 8 times to 18 post-2000s students who were screened from those voluntary participants. All participants were assessed with General Well Being Schedule (GWB), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) at base line, and were interviewed with tests at the end of 8 weeks intervention and one month after intervention. Single factor repeated ANOVA were used for analysis. The post-test and follow-up scores of GWB were higher than the base-line (Ps<0.001), the post-test score was higher than the follow-up (P=0.007). The post-test and follow-up scores of GAD-7 and PHQ-9 were lower than the base line (Ps<0.001), no significant difference was found between post-test and follow-up scores of GAD-7 (P=0.061). Group members believed that the MBSR group guidance had positive influence on stress reduction, life state changing and emotion adjustment. One third of group members are willing to lead a MBSR peer group.
