Abstract:Analyzing the current situation of EST (English for Science and Technology) translation teaching materials for undergraduates revealed their inadequate attention to professional abilities. Aiming at enhancing such professional abilities, this paper adopted the project-based teaching method and the theory of five EST translation sub-competences, and put forword the idea of “integrating translation practices into a project environment equipped with complete translation workflow”, which was materialized in a new projectized approach to EST translation textbook compilation. The application of the textbook compilation method is expected to boost EST translators’ real-world application capabilities, improve EST translators’ familiarity with actual translation projects, and enable them to adapt to their future jobs faster.
